Adipocyte fatty acid binding protein (FABP4 or A-FABP),belonging to the FABPs family,is expressed primarily in adipocytes and plays a pivotal role in lipid hydrolysis and intracellular fatty acid traffic.FABP4 was also proposed as a potential candidate gene for intramuscular fat (IMF) and marbling score in some livestock and poultry breeds.
