Over several decades,there have been continued efforts in biosensors for the sensitive and selective detection of disease biomarkers,environmental toxins and biowarfare agents,etc.Toward this end,various biosensors(optical biosensors,electrochemical biosensors,nanomechanical biosensors,etc.)have been developed with ultra high sensitivity and reliable selectivity in pure solutions or in complex matrices.However,the satisfied performance of these current biosensors usually suffers from the multiple operations(e.g.,multiple reagents delivery,separation steps,washing steps and signal amplifications)which hamper the further practical applications of these biosensors.Thus,the development of rapid,portable,highly integrated,and user-friendly point-of-care(POC)diagnostic devices is highly desirable in both developed and resource-limited countries.Herein,we demonstrated an intelligent microscale electrochemical device(IMED)with totally automated reagent delivery system for the rapid and multiplexed detection of disease biomarkers.Our new IMED is quite straightforward and the whole assay can be completed in minutes with minimal user intervention.
