Decision support systems,particularly those involving spatial perspectives,are rapidly advancing technologically and scientifically in their effectiveness with guiding natural resource decision-making.This paper discusses a broad set of components/tools which are being integrated to guide land-use decisions especially relative to facilitating sustainability of water resources and soil productivity.How new information technologies and analyses can better help us understand and manage human land-use activities for food production and ecological services,will be examined holistically.
