To investigate the secondary metabolites and their bioactivities of a soft coral-derived fungus Nigrospora oryzae (ZJ-2008005) obtained from a soft coral Dendronephthya sp.collected from the South China Sea,seven isoechinulin-type alkaloids were isolated from the fermentation products and their structures were determined as neoechinulin A (1),preechinulin (2),L-alanyl-L-tryptophan anhydride (3),isoechinulin A (4),dihydroxyisoechinulin A (5),tardioxopiperazine B (6) and variecolorin L (7) by extensive analysis of their spectroscopic data and by comparison with the data of literature. All of them were isolated from fermentation products of Nigrospora sp.for the first time.Their antifouling activity against barnacle Balanus amphitrite were evaluated and compounds 1,4and 5 showed potent activity against the larval settlement of barnacle Balanus amphitrite with IC50 of 5.92 μg/mL,and compounds 1 and 5 exhibited weak activity with IC50 of 10.0~50.0μg/mL and 50.0 μg/mL,respectively.
