In this paper, filament wound cylindrical vesels, constructed from crossion resistant polyester resin and glass fibers wound at [±45°]s, [±50°]s, [±55]s, [±58°]s and [±60°]s orientations on an aluminium liner(AL6063).The specimens with length of 200mm and 400mm are studied in 3, 5 and 7 lay-up under hydrostatic and quasi-static loads.Relation between the mechanical properties of both cases is investigated. The obtained strain rates are compared with the ones predicted by classical lamination theory. And in the next step, experimental results are compared with the finite element solutions, in which commercial software ANSYS 10.0 is utilized.A good correlation between finite element and experimental results is observed.According to the winding angle and stacking sequences [±58 °]7 is the optimum case for both lengths.
