Since its introduction in 1983,arthroscopic ankle arthrodesis has been the treatment of choice ofend-stage ankle arthritis with mild deformity.Over the past 2 decades, improvements in arthroscopicinstrumentation and techniques have made it possible to perform an extensive debridement of theankle .In combination with percutaneous internal screw fixation,a successful arthrodesis can beperfomed through minimal incisions. The principles of compression and rigid internal fixation of thetibiotalar joint, combined with the soft tissue sparing advantage of arthroscopy, allow for a successfulfusion.
