In order to identify the working viscosity of a polymer solution in porous media during the injection process, an oil well in the center of a typical five-spot pattern for polymer flooding in the Daqing Oilfield was chosen.By dynamically integrating sealed coring data, oil-water relative permeability curves and production data, a novel method was established to estimate the working viscosity of a polymer solution in porous media.This method provided the technical foundation for understanding the mechanism of polymer flooding and the design of polymer flooding projects.This research revealed that the working viscosity of a polymer solution in porous media was much lower than that measured in the laboratory.Because of underground shearing and adsorption, the work viscosity of a polymer solution with medium molecular weight in a porous medium near the producer was between approximately 7.5-10mPa · s.
