The introduced Southern Bay scallop Argopecten irradians concentricus is one of the most economically important aquaculture species along the southern coast of China.Significant selective responses for fast growth in shell height were observed for four successive generation selections. The fifth-generation mass selection for shell height with a selective intensity of 2.063 was conducted in the present study.Genetic parameters were estimated by comparing three different types of lines: SS (subjected to five generation selection for shell height), SC (subjected to four generation successive selection but not the fifth generation selection for shell height) and CC (unselected control for five successive generations).
