In recent years, tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs) abundantly expressed on the cancer cells surface in the forms of glycoprotein or glycolipid have emerged as novel and effective anti-tumor vaccine candidates for cancer immunotherapy.It was reported that more than 60% of breast cancer has been found to expresses Globo H, and 80% expresses its precursor-Gb5 (SSEA3).The latter was presented more in breast cancer stem cells.One phase I trial for determining the toxicity, immunogenicity, and efficacy of Globo H-KLH conjugate has shown a detectable antibody response to Globo H and effective treatment for cancer patients.
