I led the way around to the front of the bank. As Samantha and Azizul reached the corner, we could hear voices.
“Who are you?” Mr Ho was saying. “Where’s Eugene? And where’s my daughter?”

“If you want to see them again, you’ll open that door and get me the money.” the Memory Man told him.

“You’ll pay for this.” Mr Ho warned him, holding out the keys.

I took a breath, and then ran towards him as fast as I could. I took the keys from Mr Ho and raced back to the bus.
“Quick! Back to the bus!” I called to Samantha and Azizul.

The bus was rolling faster and faster. I tried to steer it, but it was going backwards, down the alley. Then it bounced against a light pole and stopped. So much for our escape. We were trapped.

“What would they do in the movies?” asked Azizul.

“They’d make a lot of noise!” said Samntha. “And turn on all the lights!”

Good! I turned on all the lights inside the bus, and began horning harder.

I looked through the windscreen. I could see lights coming on in some of the apartment blocks.

“It seems we’ve woken the neighbours!” I cheered.

“Very clever!”shouted the Memory Man, suddenly appearing beside me. “Give me the keys...Now!”

I dug out the keys and he took them away with a cold smile.

He snapped his fingers. The biggest, longest, meanest looking snake I’d ever seen was coiling itself down the aisle of the bus.

Samantha jumped onto a seat. I froze. Azizul fainted.
