1 Introduction In tactical and strategic applications, electronically controlled phased arrays are rapidly replacing machine-sweep flat panel antennas. However, the instantaneous bandwidth of electronically controlled arrays employing phase shifters is limited by the gain gain of the pattern and the corresponding grating lobe level and average sidelobe level rise.
