试验过程中,常由于偶然因素的影响造成缺区。缺区会使试验的准确性降低,缺区多时,试验只有报废,造成时间、人力、物力的浪费。缺区少时,不宜将试验报废,而应采用统计学原理进行推算补救,然后再行分析。关于在随机区组试验中缺二区的补救,各统计书籍介绍的有反复修正法和解方程法两种。这两种方法虽可以估计缺二区的理论数值,但计算比较
