四戏曲界前辈把“心与意合、意与气合、气与力合”概括为“内三合”,是借鉴于养生气功。有所谓“内练一口气,外练筋骨皮”之说。戏曲表演的基功训练很重视运用“丹田”气。按照祖国医学的说法,丹田部位一般指在脐下3寸部位,是全身气血汇集之处,也是经络贯通上下表里内外的枢纽。这种功法讲“内三合”、“外三合”。六者相合,这是人体形态结构自然要求的结果。为了内外相合,周身之气不聚自聚,不运自运,内外如一。这些练功要素对舞台上的表演技艺来说,是很需要的。养生气功与舞台上的形象表演所要达到的目的不同,因此在讲“六合”的法则上也就有了同中见异的
