Romania’s greenhouse production has only 15 to 20 years of history. Originally introduced by the Netherlands, Romania started producing its own greenhouse only after about 1965, and so far it has an estimated 2,000 hectares of greenhouse area nationwide, averaging 100-130 hectares annually. The main reason for the rapid development is that they solved the problem of heat supply in greenhouses. 80% of them are built near thermal power stations
