MAI-complex is short for Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex. This bacterium is an acid-fast bacterium that is similar to human-type Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In acid-fast bacilli other than tubercle bacillus, the bacterium attracts people’s attention because of its highest chance of separation from humans.
