朱陆之辩有三层不同含义。对它们的区别的忽视，尤其是对陆九渊学说与包括陆氏门人之学在内的陆学之间区别的忽视，导致朱烹对陆九渊的误解，进而影响到陈来先生对他们哲学主要分歧的判断。对陆九渊学说的分析表明，朱陆对立的根源在于陆九训学说中的“狂者胸次”。朱陆之辩中（尤其是朱陆无极之辞中）双方的表现，则表明他们所追求的道德理念的完满性在伦理实践中的可操作性不佳。
Zhu Lu’s defense has three different meanings. Neglect of their differences, especially the distinction between Lu Jiuyuan’s doctrine and the Lu studies including Luke Men’s teachings, led to Zhu’s misunderstanding of Lu Jiuyuan, which in turn affected Mr. Chen Lai’s judgment on their major divisions in philosophy. The analysis of Lu Jiuyuan’s doctrine shows that the root cause of the confrontation between Zhu and Lu lies in the “cheeky” in Lu Jiu-xun’s doctrine. The performance of both sides in Zhu Lu’s argument (especially Zhu Lu’s Promise) shows that the integrity of the moral ideas they pursue is not well operable in ethical practice.
