For archival departments of universities and colleges, opening archives to the public is both a statutory duty and a major challenge. The article expounds the changes and challenges faced by the archives departments of colleges and universities in providing services for the society. The paper probes into the thinking and measures that the archives departments of colleges and universities deal with the changes and challenges from the aspects of ideological understanding, business construction and personnel training.
