《隋书·经籍志》是我国现存最古的第二部史志目录。它是在《隋大业正御书目》的基础上并参考阮孝绪的《七录》分类体系编成的。所著录的书籍包括存佚和释道书在内共有6520部,56881卷。,它最早正式确立了经史子集的四部名称,并且在卷首撰有总叙,四部各有大序,各类有小序,另加佛道两类序和后序,共有48篇。因此它不仅是一部考证学术源流的重要著作,也是一部精当的史志目录。这样一部在我国古典目录学上占有重要地位的史志目录,其著者是谁却始终没有定论。其间尽管有人对这个问题探究过,但是我们今天所见到各处的著录仍然各行其是,真可谓五花八门,仅笔者所见就可举出下列六种:
“Sui Shu · Ji Zhi Zhi” is China’s oldest existing second record directory. It is compiled on the basis of Sui Daye Zheng Yu Shu and with reference to Nguyen Hsiao-Hoo’s “Seven Records” classification system.
