At the World Health Conference held at the World Health Organization (WHO) in May 2001, a resolution was passed (WHA54.1 2) to strengthen nursing and midwifery work. This resolution is the latest one in a series of motions. Its purpose is to enhance the ability of countries to provide care and midwifery services. WHO’s Global Nursing and Midwifery Consultation Agency (GAG- NM) played a very important role in the passage of the WHA54.1 2 bill.
