Thom Mayne(汤姆·梅恩)出生于1944年,1968年毕业于南加州大学建筑系,后在哈佛大学研究生院学习,三十四岁那年获得哈佛大学建筑硕士。1987年还在罗马的美国研究所学习过。年轻时,梅恩曾因反传统和坚持自我理想而博得“坏男孩”的称号。1972年,他与六名好友成立了当时被视为另类的南加州建筑学校SCI—Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture),同年成立Mor- phosis建筑师事务所,两年后首次获奖。在过去二十年里．Morphosis默默从事住宅,办公大楼及各类型建筑设计工作,他们对形态过程的关心是实验性设计的结果,其重叠细线的绘图方法和有质感的模型,对年轻一代有着特别大的影响。
Thom Mayne was born in 1944 and graduated from the University of Southern California Department of Architecture in 1968 before studying at Harvard Graduate School. At 34, he obtained a master’s degree in architecture from Harvard University. 1987 also studied at the American Institute in Rome. When young, Mayne won the title of “bad boy” for his anti-tradition and persistence in his own ideal. In 1972, he and six other friends founded the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), which was then regarded as an alternative. In the same year, Morphys Architects was established and won for the first time in two years. In the past two decades. Morphosis is quietly engaged in the design of residential, office buildings and various types of architecture. Their concern with morphological processes is the result of experimental design. The overlapping thin lines of drawing methods and textured models have a particularly big impact on the younger generation.
