National Semiconductor Corporation announced the availability of the industry’s first single-chip system solution designed specifically for color imaging and document scanners. The LM9830 chip integrates all the features of a high-performance color scanner such as analog front end, sensor clock generation, miniature stepper motor control, data buffering, and parallel port interface into a single integrated circuit. The LM9830 features a 6 MHz (MHz) 12-bit analog-to-digital converter with a pipelined architecture and a conversion rate of up to 6 megapixels per second, delivering up to 36 colors when scanning images. LM9830 chip built-in digital compensation and shadow adjustment function, and retain the National Semiconductor early image processing products have all the analog processing capabilities, including gain compensation and related double sampling.
