南京巍巍钟山,南奉豪杰伟人,北埋忠烈义士。1932年8月,国民政府军政部航空署于钟山北麓始建了航空烈士公墓,陆续安葬了170余名抗日战争期间牺牲的中国和援华的苏联、美国等航空烈士。如今,为了永远纪念和深切缅怀在中国抗日战场上血洒长空的4000多名中外航空人员,又于此先后建成了抗日航空烈士纪念碑和纪念馆,使之有墓、有碑、有馆,形成三位一体的大型国际抗日航空烈士纪
