冶金部和中国金属学会于1984年6月5日至9日在武钢召开了大中型高炉炉身寿命讨论会.参加会议的有生产、科研、设计和高等院校32个单位的代表共80名.会议总结交流了建国以来各厂提高炉身寿命的经验和教训,分析了当前炉身寿命短的各种原因,并对今后延长炉身寿命提出了具体措施. 与会代表认为,自从高炉采用碳砖综合炉底以后,影响高炉寿命的薄弱环节已转移到炉身下部.目前高炉炉身寿命一般只有四年左右,它不仅因中修需要耗费巨额投资和大量人力、物力,而且严重影响生铁产量.为此,高炉炉身寿命过短已成为当前发展钢铁生产的突出问题之一.
