Objective To measure the cranial cavity area of normal adults by imaging the median sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to find out the range of normal values, and to explore its correlation with age and gender differences. Methods A total of 720 adults with normal development and no related diseases were selected randomly from our hospital picture archiving and communication system (PACS). They were divided into 6 groups according to different age groups: 20-29 years old, 30-39 years old, 40-49 years old Group, 50 to 59 years old group, 60 to 69 years old group, 70 to 79 years old group, each group of 120 cases, 60 men and women. The supratentorial area, the subsurface area, the entire cranial area and the supratentorial / supratentorial area ratio (referred to as the supratentorial inferior ratio) were measured on the MRI-weighted median sagittal T1 weighted images and the measured data were statistically analyzed. Results In normal adults, the supratentorial area, the whole cranial area and the supratentorial margin increased slightly with age, but positively and linearly with age. The area under the screen decreased slightly with age and was weakly negatively correlated with age , Linear regression relationship. There were significant differences in the supratentorial area, the infratentorial area, the cranial area and the supratentorial area between men and women (t = 11.55, t = 14.70, t = -4.13, t ), In addition to the screen than the ratio, the mean value of each measurement are men than women. Conclusion The normal range of reference value of the cranial cavity in mid-sagittal magnetic resonance imaging of the adult craniofacial region has a certain variation rule, which can be used as one of the indicators of the clinical evaluation of cranial cavity volume.
