Natriuretic peptides are a class of peptide hormones that are primarily produced by cardiomyocytes and released into the bloodstream. ANP, BNP and NT-proBNP in their families are closely linked to many cardiovascular diseases. Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common arrhythmia, the incidence increases rapidly with age, at the same time, atrial fibrillation will increase the incidence of embolic disease and increase mortality. When atrial fibrillation occurs, there is a significant change in hemodynamics, an increase in cardiac production and release of natriuretic peptide, and a significant increase in plasma levels. Currently, the main methods for the treatment of atrial fibrillation are drug cardioversion, cardioversion, catheter ablation and surgery, but any method has a certain recurrence rate. Therefore, the choice of treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation and the assessment of the efficacy of treatment is extremely important. As a biochemical marker of very high correlation with atrial fibrillation, natriuretic peptide is promising for the evaluation of the prognosis of patients with atrial fibrillation.
