进入新时期以来,伴随着思想解放的脚步,小说创作开始将艺术笔触聚焦在人性描写上,使得新时期小说开始向文学本体复归,重新焕发出启蒙的曙光。从20世纪80年代的高晓声、张一弓、何士光,到20世纪90年代的毕飞宇、余华、李锐,再到新世纪的阎连科、刘庆邦、贾平凹等作家,继承“五四”启蒙主义思想传统,在揭示精神创伤,述说历史苦痛,展示民间苦难的同时,批判国民的灵魂痼疾,关注个体的存在价值,发掘平凡的人性光芒,呈现社会转型期乡土人性书写的时代新特征。
