1990年2月4日,在中国老科学技术工作者协会(简称中国老科协)成立之际,江泽民总书记为之题词,提出要“团结广大退离休科技工作者为科技进步经济繁荣社会发展和民族振兴再做贡献”。200O年是题词十周年,中国老科协常务理事会结合当前形势,对老科技工作者再做贡献的情况进行了一次全国范围的调查。通过调查,我们认为,江总书记的题词所要求的完全切合我国实际,老科技工作者是我国科教兴国中的一支不可忽视的力量。应当动员和组织老科技工作者,更大地发挥作用,为“十五”计划贡献力量。一、老科技工作者是中国科技界的一支重要力量1、我国现有科技工作者2900多万人,而退离休科技工作者总数约有500多万人,占在职科技工作者的20%左右,大大超过了老年人口在总人口中10%
