化学是一门以实验为基础的学科。新的课程标准要求教学过程中要以学生学习为主体,学生动手实验及演示实验若用多媒体动画代替则会失去其真实性且违背了教学要求,凡是学生动手的实验都不能用多媒体动画来代替。但计算机多媒体作为一种辅助教学方式,在化学新教材教学中仍起了不可忽略的作用,主要体现在以下几个方面:一、帮助学生理解抽象知识例如:演示金属钠和水的反应实验中,过去是钠与水在大烧杯中反应,而现在利用投影仪,可改在方型投影试管中进行,向盛有滴加酚酞的水中,加入金属钠,学生可以在投影屏幕上清晰地观察到“浮、游、熔、响、红”等现象,实验效果明显提高。二、模拟错误实验操作
