彝族服饰种类之多,式样之繁,修饰图案之复杂在我国少数民族中实属罕见,仅云南彝族的服饰就有百种以上。其中,彝族羊皮褂的历史最为古老,而且对千百年演变发展着的彝族服饰有着深刻影响。一羊皮褂大概是彝族最早的服饰,唐代樊绰《云南志》对当时西南夷人的描述是“男女悉披牛羊皮”,当然,彝族羊皮褂的历史应大大早于唐代。虽然至今难以找到更早的关于羊皮褂的文献记载,然而我们仍可以从彝族的族源和历史演变中得到线索和证据。根据方国瑜先生的考证:“彝族渊源出自古羌
