K You 818 is a new high-yielding indica hybrid rice combination with K17A as female parent and R818 as male parent in 1996 from Lixiahe Region Agricultural Science Institute of Jiangsu Province. In April 2001, Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee validated its name. In 2000, it passed the trial and production test of hybrid indica rice in the southern rice area in the country and was recommended to pass the examination of the National Crop Variety Approval Committee.
