From June 26 to July 2, the Chinese Society of Biochemistry held a symposium on “Structure, Cloning and Expression of Genes” in the ancient capital Xi’an. The 105 delegates attended the conference from 41 units in 15 provinces and cities nationwide. The seminar was chaired by Professor Li Zhaoping, standing director of China Society of Biochemistry. Professor Su Chengzhi, director of the Institute, made an opening speech. The responsible comrades from Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology attended the opening ceremony. At the conclusion of the seminar, Professor Wang Debao, executive director of the Institute, made a summary of the meeting. At a time when Watson and Crick put forward the thirtieth anniversary of the DNA double helix model, they held our country
