在我国民间,有“三阳开泰”之说。因“羊”与“阳”谐音,故又有以借喻手法使抽象的感受变成具体形象的羊,说成“三羊开泰”。在古代,“羊”和“祥”通用,古代人一直把羊视为吉祥动物。传说中羊最讲仁义,吃母乳时要双脚跪地吸吮,体现孝道。故在我国,祝愿羊年吉祥,万事如意,就常用“三羊开泰”这一祝语,这些在我国生产的火花中都有表现。如羊年发行的生肖邮票就有不少用三只羊表现“三阳开泰”的。如香港1967年发行的第一轮生肖邮票中的“羊”和台湾省1978年12月1日发行的羊年生肖邮票,画面上绘了三只羊。
