我国著名学者、翻译家,原中国社会科学院美国所资深研究员董乐山先生因病医治无效,于1999年1月16日在北京协和医院病逝,享年74岁。董乐山先生1924年11月14日生于浙江宁波。二次大战日寇侵占上海,他尚在念中学时便积极投身地下抗日斗争,并开始了文学创作。抗战胜利后毕业于圣约翰大学。50年代初他在新华社从事国际新闻的翻译工作。1957年遭到厄运,被下放农村劳动,后又改行教书,最后被调到社科院美国所从事美国社会文化研究工作。董乐山先生一生翻译了大量外国名著,例如他
Mr. Dong Leshan, a famous researcher and translator of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and former researcher of the United States, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, died of an illness at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital on January 16, 1999 at the age of 74. Mr. Dong Leshan was born on November 14, 1924 in Ningbo, Zhejiang. The Japanese invaders invaded Shanghai during the Second World War. While still in high school, he actively participated in underground anti-Japanese struggles and started his literary creation. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, graduated from St. John’s University. In the early 1950s, he was engaged in the translation of international news in Xinhua News Agency.
