京剧《成败萧何》是现代戏曲的一个成功范例。它的成功主要体现在它的文学剧本上,即文学剧本中所表现出的鲜明的现代意识。南京大学董健教授在《中国戏剧现代化的艰难历程》一文中提出了戏剧“现代化”的三个基本内涵:第一,它的核心精神必须是充分现代的,即符合“现代人”的意识;第二,它的话语系统必须与“现代人”的思维模式相一致;第三,它的艺术表现的物质外壳和符号系统及其升华出来的“神韵”必须符合“现代人”的审美追求。
