生态女性主义于20世纪90年代渗透于女性文学创作,解构男性与女性、文化与自然等传统的二元对立思维模式,强调女性与其生存的自然环境、社会环境、文化环境之间的和谐。中国的生态女性主义文学关注女性精神的健康成长,关注生态系统的平衡稳定,渴望建立女性与自然、女性与男性、女性与文明之间的新型平等和谐关系,探求由男性与女性作为双主体,共同构建人类社会的理想文化境界:自然生态和谐、社会生态和谐、精神生态和谐。
