由于水土保持的需要,山地上耕種時採取了梯田耕作法。目前各國的梯田型式,概可分为二類,第一類是台階式梯田,我國的水稻區所築的梯田均屬之。這一類型的梯田,由于田塊面積過小,只可依靠畜力耕耘。第二類是波浪式梯田,本類型梯田適用于地勢较平,一般用于百分之十左右的坡地上,同時其梯台與梯溝是連續不間斷,所以可採用拖拉机耕种,這類梯田的斷面如圖1所示。
