The voluntary carbon market can be divided into two distinct components: the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and the more diversified OTC market. According to the analysis of the trading volume and value of the OTC market in 2007, it can be seen that the market scale expanded more than three times from 2006 to 2007, of which the growth rate in the voluntary market was as high as 165%. The forestry projects, especially involving afforestation and heavy Organs afforestation project, the weighted average price from the original 6.8 US dollars / tCO2e increased to 8.2 US dollars / tCO2e. Due to concerns about the quality of credit credits traded on the voluntary carbon market, standards and registry compensation emerged as the most commonly used standard in 2007; blue registries are the most commonly used OTC registries.
