From 2000 to 2002, the China Hepatitis Prevention Foundation implemented the hepatitis B vaccine poverty alleviation project. The project covered 30 counties (cities) in 15 provinces (autonomous regions) with a total population of approximately 13.5 million and benefited approximately 150,000 newborns each year. The rate of hepatitis B vaccination among infants increased from 50.25% before project implementation to 92.48%, and the average comprehensive protection rate was 86.22%. Viral
