王凤和,原40军120师358团42炮兵团高射机枪连班长。我在1950年9月16日参军,那一年我20岁,结婚不久,儿子刚8个月。我小时候没读过什么书,认识几个字,一直在家种地。我们新兵先被送到辽宁铁岭,接受训练。实际受训的时间只有一星期,我被分到高射机枪连。首长看我脑子机灵,动作灵活,就让我担任机枪射手和班长。新兵训练结束后,我们被重新整编补充到40军。我们班有5个新兵,其他都是老兵。只用了一个多月的时间,我就从一个农民变成了一名士兵。
