Objective To investigate the expression of platelet count and P-selectin in patients with severe infection and its clinical significance. Methods 100 cases of severe infection admitted to the Third People ’s Hospital of Shangrao County from 2014 to 2015 were selected as the infected group, and 50 healthy people were selected as the control group. According to different outcomes of severe infection patients were divided into improved group (n = 70) and worsened group (n = 30). The levels of P-selectin and platelet count were compared between the control group and the infected group, the improvement group and the worsening group, and the clinical significance was determined. Results In the infection group, the P-selectin level was higher than that of the control group, and the platelet count was less than that of the control group (P <0.05). P-selectin levels were higher in worsening group than in improving group, and platelet count was less than that in improving group (P <0.05). Conclusion Platelet count and P-selectin levels may be used as indicators of disease severity in critically ill patients with clinical significance.
