How the economic benefits of foreign-invested enterprises are an important issue of concern to all local governments and relevant departments. According to a survey of 282 foreign-invested enterprises by the end of 1988 in Jiangsu Province, the number of profit-making enterprises, profit-making enterprises and loss-making enterprises each basically accounts for one-third of the total. The proportion of loss-making enterprises in all foreign-invested enterprises is increasing year by year. The amount also increased exponentially year by year. Analysis of the reasons for the loss of these loss-making enterprises, summed up in the following categories: First, the downturn in some industries, resulting in foreign-invested enterprises product sales. For example, there are nearly 200 enterprises that produce plastic in the country. In addition, the smuggling from Guangdong and Fujian provinces is too much and the prices are cheaper, which has hit the domestic market.
