August 16, 1960, New Mexico, USA. Joe Kittinger volunteered to sign up for a U.S. Air Force trial of whether an individual could parachute at high altitude and survive. On that day he climbed into a basket of helium balloons, rising to a heights that humans never flew - at 102,800 feet (31,303.44 meters). This height is close to the edge of space. At that time, he jumped out of the basket and dropped his parachute four and a half minutes vertically. He descended fast and became the first person in the world to break the sound barrier with his body. Today, more than two decades later, Joe Keatinging, who is already a retired United States Air Force officer, broke the world record again: September 14-18, 1984 Take a balloon from the United States, Maine, Kyriopon City, across the Atlantic, arrived in Italy
