我的一位同学曾经问我,他很好奇经济学到底有什么用处,如果不幸没有用处,那么要经济学有什么用。我几乎被他绕口令一般的问话弄糊涂了,最后明白了他是在拷问经济学作为一门学科存在的意义。言下之意是如果没什么用,也就用不着存在了。以我的学识,终于没能给他一个理直气壮的回答。我只是觉得不公平,为什么人们不去问问哲学,历史,文学的用处,甚至不去问问诸如天体物理这类玄而又玄的自然学科的用处。
One of my classmates once asked me if he was very curious about the usefulness of economics. If misfortune is not useful, then what is the use of economics? I was almost confused by his general interrogation of words and finally realized that he was torturing the meaning of economics as a subject. The implication is that if no use, there is no need to exist. With my knowledge, finally failed to give him a confidently answer. I just think it is not fair, why people do not ask the philosophical, historical, literary usefulness, do not even ask questions such as astrophysics, such a mysterious and profound natural science.
