当我开始研究美国大学招生作文时,第一个吸引我的是各个大学的独具特色而又多姿多彩的作文题。许多美国大学要求学生提交一到两篇开卷作文。普林斯顿大学要得更多些,绝大部分是命题或者规定内容或主题的作文。有些学校则不强求作文的形式和内容,任意交一篇即可。这些“高考”作文题更是五花八门、千奇百怪。芝加哥大学在申请表上一口气开列了五个作文题,让申请者任选一题,写一篇一两面纸的作文(有一篇的题目是:“你感觉到星期三怎么样?”)。并提示道:“这是你告诉我们关于你自
When I began to study the American college admissions composition, the first thing that attracted me was the unique and colorful essay question of each university. Many U.S. universities require students to submit one or two open-book compositions. Princeton University wants more, and most of it is propositions or essays that specify content or subject matter.
