中国民族图书馆是我国少数民族文献的主要收藏、交流和展示中心,且拥有丰富的民族文献馆藏资源。馆内有藏书70余万册,馆藏以民族文献为主,其他文献为辅,其中少数民族文字古籍就有20余万册,与民族地区有关的地方文献约15余万册,它丰富而独特的藏书体系在国内外赢得了“民族典籍之宫”的美誉。整理、研究这些古籍,展示了中国民族图书馆有着丰富的馆藏资源,对促进民族文化与全国乃至世界各国图书馆的学术文化交流,推动民族文化的全面发展,提高古籍专业人员的科研水平等都有着积极作用。其馆内所藏回族古籍主要分为家谱、译著、民国期刊三大类。
