Objective: To observe the protective effect of phentolamine and dexamethasone on renal damage in rats with severe inhalation injury and its mechanism. Methods: 72 rats were randomly divided into three groups. The control group was intraperitoneally injected with normal saline. Group A received intraperitoneal injection of phentolamine, and group B received intraperitoneal injection of dexamethasone. Another six non-injured rats were measured before injury, and then take 6 injured rats, 30 minutes after injury for the injury value measured. Results: The levels of BUN, MDA, MDA and SOD in the control group were significantly higher than those in the control group Obviously, SOD, ATP levels were significantly lower. The levels of BUN and tissue and blood NO in group A and group B were significantly lower than those in control group. The ATP and SOD in group A and group B were significantly higher than that in control group, and the water content in tissue was lower than that in control group. CONCLUSION: Both phentolamine and dexamethasone may protect the kidneys of rats with severe inhalation injury by regulating the body’s nitric oxide level to improve the body’s antioxidant capacity and energy metabolism.
