刘开渠先生说过“人生是可以雕塑的”,作为雕塑家的我是怎样雕塑自己人生的呢?像我这样从年青时投身革命,与共和国共命运的人,深深体验到历史是人民创造的,而无数英雄人物正是人民中的精华,他们像群星一样连缀成一部闪光的历史。经历和爱好使我走上了肖像雕塑的道路,但驱使我内在力量的却是一种历史的使命感。尤其是近代及现代史上那些可歌可泣的人物,使人铭记在心而不能忘怀。以雕塑语言为群英立传的激情,促使我争取作出自然的表达,可以说这是我的抱负和自然归宿。艺术是表现美的,我在努力雕塑崇高美的同时雕塑着自己的人生,使灵魂净化和升华。回首平生,道路并不平坦,但信念如一,堪以自慰。 表现历史人物可以有多种形式,但是用造型艺术的手段比文学手段更有难度,尤其是用雕塑这种靠体量的三度空间语言来表现体现于时间过程中的人物性格。对肖像雕塑这一门受空间形态所局限的艺术来说,无形的思想和有复杂性的社会经历的表现要
