This article reports a new type of vaginal ring with a shell diameter of 50 mm or 58 mm with a daily release rate of 250 μg-290 μg of levonorgestrel and 150 μg-180 μg of estradiol. In a multicentre trial of 1,103 people who used vaginal rings, the validity and acceptability of this ring were studied. A comparative study was also conducted with 533 Nordette, an oral contraceptive used by Wyeth, a West German city.
