An automated online measuring system developed by Federal Measuring Instruments has been in operation for more than a year in an efficient production of 200,000 parts per year at a prestigious automotive parts manufacturer in the United Kingdom. The system has two automated processing, measuring production lines. One is the truck’s front hub axle production line; the other is the truck rear steering knuckle axis production line. The rough parts are forgings. Parts machined through these two lines have minimal variability. The finished parts will be sent to the Rover plant for assembly.
