一条流水线上的人似乎各有各的工作,实际上所有人都在千篇一律地拧螺丝,唯一的区别就在于你拧上面的螺丝,而我拧下面的螺丝。流水线可算得上是上个世纪以来工业革命最伟大的创举之一。流水线因高效而流行。当需求日益膨胀时,工业革命前的手艺无法填补产量的黑洞,单人制作整个产品不仅耗时,而且对技能要求颇高。流水线应运而生:只需要每个工人熟练掌握一个片段。于是劳动力成本大大降低,成品数量却大大增加。流水线的意义是双重的,因为这种提效方法不仅适用于工厂,它在工厂内开创了技术新主题,也在工厂外形成一种主流用人策略。
